For her whole life, Corial has either been living in the ocean or on her father's pirate ship, so the life at sea is all she's ever known. She journeys around the world with her Pirate Father, Captain Hoofbeard, and Mermare Mother, Jewel. She rarely stays on land for more than a day. Then one day, Hoofbeard caught wind of the Princess of Friendship holding a school for all sorts of species, be it a gryphon, yak, or even a changeling. He thought it fate sense he knew her and thanks to she and her friends he and Jewel were together. Hoofbeard talked about it with Jewel and agreed that it would be good experience for their daughter. Plus Hoofbeard was confident that she would become the new Captain of his ship one day and thought the school run by the Princess of Friendship would be a great place to find loyal crew members. 

Of course since enrolling at the Friendship Academy, she became the typical mean popular girl. 

The sword symbolizes her Pirate heritage as well as her skills in swordplay. The bracelet symbolizes her beauty and her love for treasure/jewelry. 

After being constantly fawned over by her parents about her beauty, Corial is completely confident about her looks. And when her parents aren't around to fawn over her, she gets anxious and tries to grab the attention of potential admirers. And when she's not the center of attention, she would diminish anypony who would hog it all to him or herself. 

She's also confident in her fighting ability as she had sparred with her father, who's no slouch, in the art of Pirate Sword Fighting. 

When she gets angry or challenges somepony, she tends to speak Pirate. She also doesn't have the best of manners.

When she's at sea, she develops a sort of split personality. When she's swimming in the water, she's like a playful dolphin, just wanna have fun. But on a ship or even a small rowboat, she would start barking orders like a strict sea captain and won't tolerate slacking.

Corial adores her adoring parents and has yet to see them when they're angry. Her and Jewel would swim in the sea admiring its beauty. While she and Hoofbeard would spar and take care of the ship. The angriest she'd ever see her parents is when her father would get strict with her when maintaining a ship and its crew. Hoofbeard and Jewel are unaware of how spoiled their "Little Treasure" is.
